Another Backwoods Adventure

There is nothing better than a cold wet rainy day on a Maine mountain pond!!!!! Kim aka "the old man" did manage to make it up without any life saving measures. Fish came in spurts.

Dave aka Hornet and I could not have picked a better day!
Rainy....Overcast...Cold.... Together, we hooked about 16 brookies, mostly in the 15-16" a couple pushing 17"-18"

Another Messed up day!!

Well I seem to having problems this year!!!
I got up saturday at 3:30 AM to hit a new pond. I drove 1 hour to hit the dirt road in. I drove 9 miles out that road.. the road so bad it took me an hour to get that far. Then I walked the rest of the way, through knee deep mud. Finally hit the pond at 6:30 am. Blew up the float tube, got my rod , and found out I had left all my reels home!!!!!!!
After cursing for a while.... I drove home. Got home at 9:30, pissed and tired. I ended up taking a nap. My wonderful wife woke me up at 2 pm. She said to hurry up and go fishing somewhere before it was too late. So i called the flow line, checked East Outlet, it was 1500, so I decided to go. I drove the 2 hours to the E.O., when I got there I couls see it was much more than 1500. I checked the sign, it said 10500. DOUGHHHHHH. 0 for 2!!!!! So I drove over to the West Outlet, caught 1 nice brookie, and drove home. At lest I wasnt skunked..... but I did drive 7 hours for 1 trout!!!!

A Backwoods Adventure

Well I decided to head north again today to hike into another remote wild brookie pond I had never tried before. I got to the trail head and started in at 6:30. Usually when I hit a new pond I put coordinates in my gps for it, but this time I thought I had the map "memorized" so I didn't need to. Well after walking for what seemed a little too long, the trail I was on ended. After a little bushwacking I saw water. I went down to the shore only to find...... I was at the wrong pond *&%#%^$. I thought I remembered from the map that there was a trail on the other side of this pond that went over to the pond I wanted, so I bushwacked around the pond to find it. Along the way my net, which was hanging off my pack, must have got caught on something and ripped off. When it did it must have loosened the string holding my rod case, because that was gone too. So I bushwacked back the way I came looking all around for my rod. After about 20 min I found it. I promptly hollered thanks to God!!!! I finished bushwacking around the pond but never found the trail, so I decided to head back to the truck. When I got back it was 9:30. I managed to find cell reception, call my wife, and get proper coordinated for the pond, and I was back on my way. I finally hit the pond about 11, just in time for the rain, wind and occasional hail to start in. Well I blew up the tube anyway and proceded to head out onto the pond and freeze. Well I guess I paid my dues because I had some of the best fishing I've ever had. I only have 2 pics however due to what would be my last disaster of the day I dropped my camera in the water. I did catch it, but it no longer takes pictures or any else usefull!!!

It was worth it

Wild Brookie Pond

Went search of some wild brookies in a northern pond. Had a nice walk in, and the pond was covered with rings when I got there

The fish were small, but very willing to bite. Caught many on dries before rain drove me out of there

I saw a great looking stream on the way home and stopped. I caught a few small salmon.

A great day in the Maine woods!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A few pictures from the Spring

Here are a few pics from my trips so far this year. I have been busy at work and haven't got out nearly as much as I like. Hope to change that soon!!!!
