Penobscot River

Went out after some smallies from about 4 am to 8 am this morning. When I got to the island I was going to fish at, there was alot of surface action going on. The smallies were driving bait right up to the shore. I put on a popper and moved alot of big fish. Problem is I could only hook a few, and some of those would come off before I could get them in. Still a good time seeing some savage topwater strikes.

Another Pond in Katahdin Iron Works

I tried to go find another pond in KI. I got to the gate at 6:30 and started driving in to it. By 9:00 I was still not able to find it. So I finally gave up and headed into Horseshoe pond instead. The trout there were very willing to bite, but mostly small. I fished a few hours in what was at times heavy fog and extreme rain

A Long weekend in Vermont

<>

My wife and I planed on Spending a long weekend in Vermont to attend the wedding of her high school friend Debbie. We brought Alisha and Brian with us to watch Rhiannon while we were at the wedding, and we met our Friends Lance and Rachel there. Due to car trouble the weekend ended up being even longer than we expected!!!
The drive there was about 5 hours and rather uneventful. After a quick dip in the Hotel pool we went to diner. The local resturaunt we decided on was out of half of their menu!! After diner we attended a dessert party being held for all the guests. After some drinks and awesome cheesecake we called it a night.

The next day we drove to the Sugar Bush Farm, a local farm that makes cheese, maple syrup, and a variety of flavorful sauces. We got to sample some cheese and syrup, plus take a tour of the farm. We couldn't resist bring some cheese and other treats home!!

On advice of a friend, we headed out to the Long Trail Brewery for some chili and of course beer!! The chili was just as good as I was told, and the beer battered onion rings were even better!!!! The beer was also great, especially the Hefeweizen. The brewery also has a gorgeous stream running out back of it. Its the kind of place you spend a lazy summer afternoon.

That evening we went to the wedding at a chapel on Dartmouth campus, and then the reception at the Queechie Inn

Local Trout Stream

I went out for a few hours this morning and hit my local trout stream. After the last few cool night the water was only 64!!
There were ALOT of chubs about, but in between I managed to land a half dozen brookies. Caught the fist few on Caddis dries, then the last couple on a streamer that the chubs seemed to leave alone.

Sandy Point

A few friends and I fished the lower Penobscot by the mouth. We saw a seal with a fish, a few fish swimming, and I had one breifly on, but we were not able to land a single fish
