Maine Fly Fish striper Outing

What a blast is all I can say! I have never done so many didfferent things in a few days. I first want to thank Jim from Eldredge Bros. form taking the time out of his busy schedule to play with us for two days.

Karl caught a real fat 26 incher

Friday Night

After settling at the campground and meeting up with everyone. We headed to the spot Karl got the nice one. I think everyone got some fish:)

After we met up with Jim and his buddy, they wanted us to float tube the ocean. Please do not attempt this unless with someone that knows what they are doing, this can be very dangerous

Tubing the ocean was intense. It made the fish feel much more powerful. I got another 20, one around 18 and one around 20. We all got a good number of fish. Karl's was having some troubles so headed in, by what I hear he had a hard time getting out of the ocean[}: )]

Saturday Morning

No one was late this year:D. We had 13 people show up for the float! I think most everyone got a rat or two. The float only took around 2 hours because the tide was going out fast but it was fun.

After the float we headed back to camp to regroup. I did the drawing for the large amount of flies, donated by Peter and Mal. Stonefly won them.

We decided to go float the ocean again and search for some pigs. We got a bunch more rats. I used the six wght so they were real tough:D. I think most everyone got some fish here also. There were some very large fish seen swimming under the tubes.

After that I met up with my family at the beach and most everyone went back to camp and relax before fishing the evening. Allen tied up some of the hot flies for everyone.

Jefff stopped by to fish the evening with us. I stayed with my family and got one rat for my youngest to reel in.

The group went to fish from the rocks. They said they got some rats and a few in the 20s.

At the end of the day we were all pooped. We all hung out around the fire and told lies:D

Well I would also like to start out by saying THANK YOU to Jim from Eldridge Brothers for taking us out this weekend, It was an absolute blast!!!!!

I didn't make it for the early Friday fishing, but did go out on the ocean float tubing run. I have to say that was an absolute blast!!!! I think we all got into some fish out there, and like Kevin said, they really feel strong when your out in a tube!!!

Unfortunately I missed Karl getting out of the ocean, but I did see him walking over the hill with seaweed hanging off his head!!!!

I was again talking to Karl Saturday morn while we were getting ready for the float of the York river. He was pumping up his tube as he was telling me of all him bad luck over the weekend. He had just fishing telling me about breaking a reel when there was a huge POP.

It turned out to be Karls tube exploding with perfect timing!!!!!

The float tube was alot of fun, but I think most of us went down river too fast. I think we all got a rat or 2, ans alan landed a nice one in front of the take out spot while most of us watched.

We went to another spot after that, some of us fished from rocks while others tubed again. I though a huge wave was going to sweep Gunner and I out to sea, but we managed to hang on. I few rats later we headed back to camp. I spent the rest of the afternoon with my family on the beach while most of the guys fished.

That evening we had to deal with a "Rat Pack" of our own

When Kevin wasn't looking, his son was learning the fine art of spin fishing

I got up early Sunday morning to get a little fishing in before leaving. Everyone else wanted to sleep in so I went alone. I got my biggest fish of the weekend

After that is was breakfast, and back to reality.

West Branch

I went to the west branch today with Dan and we had a great day. The flow was around 3100 or so but still carefully fishable. Dan caught 14 salmon, 2 small brookies and I caught 9 salmon. The biggest salmon we caught was about 16 inches but the average was around 12-14. We caught most of them on either small nymphs or small dries. While we were there we saw a couple of fox pups up close!
